Dear Saints,
There are four weeks left until Easter and our Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) ministry has kicked into high gear. Even as there are many riches yet to be mined during the season of Lent, one can’t help but feel some mounting excitement: home is on the horizon for the Elect.
OCIA can be likened to the friendly neighbor who - just a few steps ahead of you as you both hurry out of a thunderstorm and into the cheery church - holds the door open for you. The ministry warmly invites those who seek shelter to come in and stay a while. Once inside, it introduces them to Jesus: the Living Water, the Light of the World, the Resurrection.
All around the world, people are knocking at the door of the Church. Some have enjoyed mostly sunny skies yet long for something more; some have weathered many storms and are desperate for refuge. They stand at the threshold between curiosity and conviction, between discernment and discipleship. OCIA will help them take that step; the entire parish will walk with them every step thereafter. What a privilege it is to hold the door open for each and every person sincerely seeking entrance. What joy for us to share the path with them as we journey together into the fullness of new life.
Christ’s Peace,
Father Daniel
