Dear Saints,
It didn’t take long for Ordinary Time to reveal its extraordinaryness: tomorrow marks a new and special month. We dedicate June to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in order to contemplate the depths of Christ’s love poured out for each of us. Rooted in Scripture and given expression through the visions of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, the compassion of the Sacred Heart is intensely personal and enduring, longing to gather us in at any cost to itself. It reminds us that God burns with mercy, forgiveness, and true inclusion.
Devotion to the Sacred Heart necessitates its imitation. It demands that we meet injury with pardon, discord with union, doubt with faith, pride with humility, and hatred with love. Not just once - and not just for one month - but every time.
It would be an unscalable mountain, but for the fact that it’s already been scaled by the one who now draws us upward, step by step, with and into his own sacred love.
Christ’s Peace,
Father Daniel
