Dear Saints,

Speaking to a group of young adults on the topic of vocation back in 2022, Father John Calabro told his audience: “God is with you on the journey. Trust that he will lead you and build you up.”

We’re thrilled that Father John’s own journey has led him to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, where he has begun serving as one of our new parochial vicars. Ordained in May of 2019, Father John served most recently as chaplain and teacher at Pope John XXIII Regional High School in Sparta. Father John brings valuable experience, a number of unique gifts, and special zeal to the OLMC family.

Father John is joined by Father Lucas Folan who, as most of you know, was ordained last month. Father Lucas has said he discovered his vocation through friends at his university’s Newman Club, and that service experiences “opened [his] heart to the poor and the desire to serve.” It doesn’t take long for people to realize that Father Lucas radiates extraordinary talent and charity for all.

This is a providential moment for OLMC to welcome Father John and Father Lucas, as our parish continues to grow in both numbers and mission. With so many families seeking stronger connections, vibrant community, and above all an authentic encounter with Jesus, their presence is both valuable and cherished. In this season of momentum and grace, I am certain they will help guide, strengthen, and sustain all that God is doing in our midst, and I personally can’t wait to see where he takes us next!
