Dear Saints,

As the pace of life picks back up with the end of summer and a return to many of the occupations we rightfully eased up on in order to enjoy time with loved ones and in other worthwhile pursuits, the home takes on a new and important meaning.

The home is where we begin our day, get ready for our various tasks, where we are fed, take our rest, and start over again. We learn in our homes to be loved and to love, to discover our gifts and to place them at the service of others, to forgive and to ask for forgiveness. When we invite Jesus into our houses through prayer and heartfelt gestures of love, even and especially when it costs us, they become true homes and seedbeds of sanctity, the “domestic Church” about which Pope Francis so often reminded us.

The eternal Word did not shy away from becoming flesh and making his home among us. (Jn 1:14) Nor does he fail to do so today, standing at the door of our hearts and knocking, ready to enter our homes and dine with us (Rev 3:20).
